There was one tree next to Uno's that was removed because it fell over and smashed the top of a vehicle that was stopped at the traffic light. I don't know if there was any fatality, but there was extensive car damage and rerouting of morning traffic.

Although trees provide some shade during hot weather, we must remember that they can be your worst enemy if it falls on you. Even a heavy branch can prove to be fatal.

They cut down four more trees in the south and have not replaced them. I counted over twenty trees planted in the north. Not all the trees were sick. They even hacked away at a RARE Tulip tree.

Trees always give neighborhoods a safer feeling for some reason I can't quite explain.

In either case I'm all for trees. I could especially appreciate the shade they provide during the hot summer months.

More trees please. And to whoever is in charge of landscaping in Parkchester please don't cut them down unnecessarily.

A huge tree was cut down in front of the 1575 bldg and another by Uno's.

Maybe the trees were sick. I hope they replace them.

The shade trees like those gave would keep the hot sun from shining directly into the the windows and heating up the apartments.

Hi ACCP,

Could be the trees are in close proximity to walking traffic or sitting areas and Parkchester management want to protect those people from any potential mishaps.
Also, you must realize a tree may look healthy but isn't.
Where did this occur?

Why is management cutting down so many trees? They have cut down 2 40 or 50 ft trees. Healthy trees.
